Question 1

What details can I use to personalise a chapter?

Accepted Answer

Story setup accepts any positive whole-number age. New saved child profiles accept ages 3–11. A character name or nickname is optional, and up to five favourite things can guide the chapter. You can also choose an optional theme such as bedtime, starting school, sharing, confidence or an adventure.

Question 2

Do I need an account to try a story?

Accepted Answer

No account is needed to open setup or enter details for this visit. The form shows whether chapter generation is available before a request can start.

Question 3

What is the difference between “This time only” and “Save for next time”?

Accepted Answer

“This time only” does not load or update a saved child profile, but the details are still sent with the chapter request. Saved child profiles are kept in the app database and can be selected, edited or deleted with the profile controls. A finished chapter is added separately when you choose “Save to story shelf”; the shelf stores its chapter text in this browser’s local storage and has edit, delete and clear controls. “Remember my place” is an optional setting for a chapter already on the shelf. When enabled, this browser stores a shelf chapter identifier, ownership-scope key, text revision, language, the setting state and a passage anchor for the verified browser or account owner; it does not duplicate story text or child details in the bookmark.

Question 4

How do I edit or remove saved child details?

Accepted Answer

Choose “Save for next time”, select the profile to use, then choose “Edit” and “Save changes”. “Cancel” discards an edit. Each “Delete profile” action asks you to confirm and removes only that profile; saved stories stay on the story shelf. The separate “Clear all saved child details and stories” control clears both.

Question 5

What if chapter generation is unavailable?

Accepted Answer

The landing page and setup form show whether chapter generation is available. You can still open setup while generation is unavailable, but the form will not start a chapter request until generation is ready.

Question 6

What happens if a chapter request fails or times out?

Accepted Answer

A refused, empty, malformed or failed response is not shown as a completed chapter, and the form offers a recovery action. If a timeout leaves the result uncertain, that action checks the original request before another chapter is started. A completed chapter appears only after a valid response; adding it to the story shelf is a separate choice.
